Research Associate II or Senior Research Associate, Cell Engineering

Position summary

​

We are looking for a highly motivated, organized, and independent Bioengineer or Molecular/Cell Biologist to join the intrinsic control team at Outpace Bio. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mammalian cell culture and synthetic biology with an interest in cell therapy. The position will involve discovery research to develop new tools and methods for autonomous control of cell therapies. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and test protein and genetic circuits in mammalian cells

  • Plan and execute experiments to measure cellular behavior and differentiation using techniques such as flow cytometry

  • Clearly communicate and present experimental results

  • Work closely with other members of the intrinsic control team

  • Collaborate with our SynBio Foundry and protein design team

  • Stay abreast of relevant literature and advances in cell therapy and synthetic biology

  • Maintain an organized and detailed electronic lab notebook

 

Required experience:

  • Expertise in mammalian cell culture

  • Expertise in flow cytometry and FACS

  • Familiarity with biochemical assays such as Western Blots and ELISA

 

Preferred experience (a successful candidate will have some subset of the below):

  • Primary T cell culture

  • Lentiviral production, including construct design for lentiviral expression

  • Data analysis in FlowJo and graphing with Excel, Prism, or Python

  • Ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot molecular cloning workflows

  • Knowledge of modern molecular biology techniques such as MoClo Golden Gate or Gibson assembly

 

Preferred Education:

BA/BS or MA/MS in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field, plus position-relevant research experience in an academic or industry environment.
